Bunching on the court

Hi Dale,

To address the issue of players bunching together during the drill, here are a few tips:

Clear Communication: Ensure players 2 and 3 communicate clearly before each repetition so they know who will call for the ball. This can be done with hand gestures to avoid player 1 overhearing.

Spacing and Movement: Encourage players to make obvious drives towards the sideline and then cut back in. This helps create space in the midcourt and reduces bunching.

Introduce Progressions: You can introduce a defender to make the drill more dynamic and force players to think about their positioning and movement. This will help them learn to avoid bunching up.

Use Other Drills: Incorporate drills like "Down Court Movement" where players who do not receive the ball make an obvious drive towards the sideline and cut back in. This helps create space and reduces bunching.

By focusing on these points, your players should start to spread out more effectively and improve their communication on the court.

I hope this helps,

Cam
