It this shown as being ball side on is this the same thing think I have got confused?
im not sure what you mean? being ballside and basic defence are different techniques. ballside is just always having yourself between the ball and your player.
defence can be a bit like this, but you can also be putting your body between your player and the goal ring, or your player and another player. it depends on what you are trying to keep a player away from.
generally being ballside is for when you wish to be receiving the ball, where as defence is about stopping someone from getting into a certain area, or position.
does that answer your question?
in more ways than one
Tight markers win when attackers run in straight lines. Teach your players to dodge, change pace and time their drive so they get free when the ball is ready.
When everyone chases the ball, nobody is free. Teach your team to spread out, offer two options and clear space so the ball moves cleanly down court.
A shooter who can hold a strong position under the post is worth more than one who runs all over the circle. Here is how to coach body shape, a legal hold and a well-timed release, and how feeders make the most of it.
