What drills should I do on the first training session for everyone to get to know each other? The girls I'm coaching are in year 3 and 4.
I did one tonight. Here`s the session plan I created.

there all sorts of fun games you can play. where they stand in one long line and there are 2 markers out the front about 3m apart. one person is out the front on a marker, and they call the name of one of their team mates who runs to the other marker and they pass them the ball. the 1st person runs back to the line, and the new person calls the name of a team mate who runs to the marker and they are passed the ball.....
you can sit in a circle and one person says the name of one of their team mates and another name that starts with the last letter of that name. they all take turns in doing this.
all stand in a circle with a ball, and they pass the ball in between each other by calling the name of the person they are throwing to. (this is a good one to teach them to call while playing)
hope that helps.
Hi there. I made up a quiz kind of thing that I`ve done with my teenage team and they seemed to like it. Hopefully it`s attached.
All the girls were given a sheet which they filled out....it only took a few minutes. I then gave them four or so minutes to run around and find as many team mates as they could that shared the same answer, the key being different people. At least one question needed to have four friends that shared the same answer and for one question, they needed to be the only one with that answer.
There was no winners as such but they all got a giggle running around and comparing similarities and differences.
Hope it helps

Split circle defence is the system the top three NSL teams have built their identity around in 2026. The Goal Keeper and Goal Defence divide the circle into zones, switch in synchrony, and make every passing option look risky. Here is how to coach it.
Most netball shooters know how to shoot. The difference at the top is who can shoot when it counts. A structured 10-minute pre-game mental routine is the most under-used performance tool in club netball - and it is the simplest to teach.
The best Goal Defences in the 2026 NSL season are intercepting more than ever. The reason is not raw athleticism. It is a deliberate shift from chasing the attacker to driving into the flight path of the ball. Here is how to coach it.
