JOIN NOWAs a GS how do I get out of being double marked by GK & GD?
Asked using Sportplan on Mobile

Hi Karen,
Firstly, it is not always a bad thing to be double marked by both the GK and GD, as although it may feel you are not doing anything, you are actually doing a lot. If you are keeping the GK and GD busy it leaves the GA free to drive into the circle and take a shot.
However, I understand it is not always the desired position to be in and there is a very easy way to get out. Often the GK and GD will force you towards the backline to keep you out of play, however, you can always use the backline. In this situation, come off court using the backline and drive back onto court to offer for the ball. However, the GD and GK technically do not have to let you back on court (if they are already on court). Therefore, I would advise you moving away before driving back on court.
Alternatively, try to take the GD and GK out of the circle by driving out. This will make the defence choose to either come with you, leaving the GA free or if they do not come with you, it will leave you free. Whatever you decide, just try not to remain static, keep the defence busy and also remember, even when you are double marked you are still playing an important role.
Hope this helps.
