How to best play against a rough player
I need to teach a team of 'nice' players how to play against rough and pushy players.
If your team has good skills and are all on the same page keep playing "nice" netball as that is more likely to win games. A bit of body on body & standing your ground should be encouraged as part of training & games but excessive rough play is intimidation and outside the rules. Energy spent on intimidating the opposition takes it away from game winning skill and strategy and both teams enjoyment of the game. I would encourage a winning fairplay attitude in your team but also teach them to use the opposition roughness to their advantage e.g. keep rough players busy & away from where they want to receive ball, staying calm & focussed on their own game to deflate the aggressors. Obvious dangerous play should be controlled by the umpires you would hope.
