Looking for drills, set plays for shooters to put screens on in the ring. And any advice for defenders to get around these screens.
im not sure what you mean Lucinda. you mean like the GS zoning the GD into the circle? or the WA or center zoning the GD from entering the circle?
as a GS i tend to zone/hold my player high on the edge of the circle (unless she is really tall) and drive or take a log into the circle in a position that im much happier to shoot from. how does a defender get around this type of screen, is to keep moving trying to get the GS out of position. it also make the shooter take her focus of the ball and more on keeping the GK in her position.
is that what you mean?
in more ways than one
Tight markers win when attackers run in straight lines. Teach your players to dodge, change pace and time their drive so they get free when the ball is ready.
When everyone chases the ball, nobody is free. Teach your team to spread out, offer two options and clear space so the ball moves cleanly down court.
A shooter who can hold a strong position under the post is worth more than one who runs all over the circle. Here is how to coach body shape, a legal hold and a well-timed release, and how feeders make the most of it.
