Hi everyone - I'm relatively new to coaching. I look after 11 and 12 year olds who are very agile, very good at catching and passing but they herd like sheep. What are your experiences with this and what are the best exercises to get them thinking about where they need to be on court. Your help appreciated. Thanks
Hello Lynette,
First off good luck with the start of your coaching career!
Secondly here are two links with plenty of great advice for your situation!
A. Best way to teach netball positions?
A. First time coach with a brand new team...
Hope this helps!
in more ways than one
Tight markers win when attackers run in straight lines. Teach your players to dodge, change pace and time their drive so they get free when the ball is ready.
When everyone chases the ball, nobody is free. Teach your team to spread out, offer two options and clear space so the ball moves cleanly down court.
A shooter who can hold a strong position under the post is worth more than one who runs all over the circle. Here is how to coach body shape, a legal hold and a well-timed release, and how feeders make the most of it.
