Small group of mixed ages

I am coaching family netball to teach the basics. I have 3 x adults and 3 x children. Anyone got any good games I can play with them that would work for such a small group (of different heights) please?

Hi Georgia,

Here are some fun and engaging games you can play with your small group of 3 adults and 3 children, which cater to different heights and skill levels:

Islands:

Setup: Create islands using cones. Players pair up with one ball between them. One or two players act as catchers.

Objective: Pairs try to visit all islands by passing the ball to each other while avoiding being tagged by the catchers.

Coaching Points: Encourage quick passing and movement to avoid catchers.

Ball Release Tag:

Setup: Designate catchers who try to tag other players. Tagged players stand still and can only be released by catching a ball.

Objective: Avoid being tagged and release tagged teammates by passing the ball to them.

Coaching Points: Introduce a second ball or more catchers to increase difficulty.

Run vs Pass Game:

Setup: Split into two teams. One team runs a relay around cones while the other team passes the ball around a smaller square.

Objective: The passing team tries to complete as many passes as possible before the running team finishes their relay.

Coaching Points: Focus on quick, accurate passing and teamwork.

King Ball:

Setup: Each team has a "King" standing on a bench. Players pass the ball to their King without breaking netball rules.

Objective: Get all team members onto the bench by successfully passing the ball to the King.

Coaching Points: Encourage dodging and strategic passing to avoid defenders.

Cops and Robbers:

Setup: Split into two teams, cops and robbers. Robbers try to steal "treasures" (balls) and avoid being tagged by cops.

Objective: Robbers try to bring treasures back to their base without being tagged. Tagged robbers go to "jail" and can be freed by teammates.

Coaching Points: Focus on communication and strategic movement.

These games are great for teaching the basics of netball while keeping the sessions fun and engaging for both adults and children.
