Team in dire need of umpire/coach
Hello, I am part of a netball team who have just entered to play in the North Kent Netball League. As part of the League rules we need to have an umpire per team but currently none of the ladies are qualified. We desperatly need an umpire and a coach if there is anyone willingly to help us out. Sounds like a tricky situation! I'm not sure if Sportplan's users will be able to help you as we have members from all over the world, what might be useful though would be to talk to local groups in your area.
Try talking to schools in your area, perhaps some of the older children might be willing to get experience as an umpire or coach - alternatively try sites like Gumtree and put up a volunteer advert or get in contact with a volunteering agency such as volunteering.org.uk.

You could try talking to your bases' PT department... they might be able to help or advise you in some way, or use your bases' local newsletter to get word out to all female personnel on base who may have experience of netball coaching / umpiring. I would have thought that the NK league should be able to provide you with some advice too! Hope that helps!

If you contact your local regional All England Representative (which you can find on the AENA website) they should be able to put you in touch with a netball development officer, usually employed by the local authority, who covers your area and will have a list of qualified coaches and umpires and should be able to help you try to find one. But be aware, both umpires and coaches tend to be in pretty short supply. It might also be worth looking at potentially sharing with another similar standard team who already have a coach/training session set up.
Hi, our teams play in several leagues throughout a small region and there are some clubs who join up without umpires despite that being a criteria to play. They find that there is usually a list of umpires (sometimes from other playing teams and sometimes ex-players who have left their clubs) who are willing to help out with teams such as yourelves. Ask the league organisers or representatives if there is such a list, you may be surprised! Good luck!
