How long do you think 11 to 15 year olds can train for in one session before not gaining any benefit. I was thinking 1hour to 1.5 at the max.I have a wide range of ages in my team this year and want to make sure that the older girls are being challenged enough and the younger ones aren't over doing it.
I coach 16/17 year olds & assist w13/14s and with both we always train for an hour, its a good amount of time to warm up, run drills play a mini game , warm down and have a chat at the end.
my daughters representative team trains for 90 min. they are 13's. they warm up, run drills, practice set moves for games, play mini game, warm down and then chat. She is a very fit 13yo and is exhilerated but tired at end of practice. She also does club practice for 1 hour a week. She's not tired after that and she follows the same training as Barbara above.
i think 1.5 hours provided that it isnt flat out the whole time. 30 mins for fitness work, then an hour for netball skills. but thats just me. i never find 1 hour enough.
in more ways than one
Tight markers win when attackers run in straight lines. Teach your players to dodge, change pace and time their drive so they get free when the ball is ready.
When everyone chases the ball, nobody is free. Teach your team to spread out, offer two options and clear space so the ball moves cleanly down court.
A shooter who can hold a strong position under the post is worth more than one who runs all over the circle. Here is how to coach body shape, a legal hold and a well-timed release, and how feeders make the most of it.
