Hi, This week I'm planning an extra fun training session for my U9's. After an all day carnival on the weekend, I thought having the parents join in our session could be fun. Has anybody done this and got any good ideas for games that would work for the kids and parents - any ideas for fun ways to modify the rules for a full court game that would even up the girls and parent's skills would be appreciated too. Thanks in advance.
i have done a parents vs kids game as a fun training session. kids dont have to worry about 3ft as the parents are heaps taller, and contacting the parents are fine...lol we had mixed teams and parents could play with or against their parents. the parents had to throw to a child (this actually became a difficult rule and one i would not repeat). it was all about fun in the end, so i wouldnt focus too much on rules, as the kids and parents will be having too much of a laugh to worry. enjoy it.

in more ways than one
Split circle defence is the system the top three NSL teams have built their identity around in 2026. The Goal Keeper and Goal Defence divide the circle into zones, switch in synchrony, and make every passing option look risky. Here is how to coach it.
Most netball shooters know how to shoot. The difference at the top is who can shoot when it counts. A structured 10-minute pre-game mental routine is the most under-used performance tool in club netball - and it is the simplest to teach.
The best Goal Defences in the 2026 NSL season are intercepting more than ever. The reason is not raw athleticism. It is a deliberate shift from chasing the attacker to driving into the flight path of the ball. Here is how to coach it.
