Our primary school netball teams work well when we train at home, but when we play matches against other schools, they seem 'too nice' and don't seem to WANT the ball enough to find spaces and play 'aggressively'.Are there any good drills or bits of advice to change this? We want to start winning some games! :-)Thank you
Hi there,
I would really think at this age group lets say 10-12year olds that it is more important to show good sportsmanship and being nice. Not all about winning (yes that is nice and it will come). Aggression or competitiveness will come as they get older and in puberty (but not for all). The love of the game and enjoying playing at this age is more important - getting them to serious and trying to make them aggressive might in fact back fire and girls loose interest.....just my opinion.
For more competitive drills maybe try drills like "rob the nest"
Good Luck ..The wins will come :)
Cheers Carolyn

Tight markers win when attackers run in straight lines. Teach your players to dodge, change pace and time their drive so they get free when the ball is ready.
When everyone chases the ball, nobody is free. Teach your team to spread out, offer two options and clear space so the ball moves cleanly down court.
A shooter who can hold a strong position under the post is worth more than one who runs all over the circle. Here is how to coach body shape, a legal hold and a well-timed release, and how feeders make the most of it.
