Where to take the penalty inside the circle or out!
Where should the penalty be taken if the Centre obstructs the GA who is inside the D?
If the GA is inside the D then the offence of obstruction would result in a penalty pass or shot ( she is in this position with the ball and could well have scored had the obstruction not occured), with the C `out of the game` outside the D.
I would have to check the rule book but my understanding would be that a penalty is always taken wherever the infringement occured, in this case outside/at the edge of the circle (wherever the C was when she obstructed). No?
Darren you are correct refer to rule 18.3 in the official rules it states the penalty shall be taken by any player allowed in the area where the infringer was standing unless this places the non-offending team at a disadvantage. In this case this would be a disadvantage for the GA so the GA would stand in the position the GA had when the infringment occurred and the C would be placed where the infringment occurred
Thanks Dimi for clarifying that x
