what communication is more important in netball verbal or non verbal?????????????
Hi there,
As a coach I find that both verbal and non-verbal communication can be beneficial for your team, especially during matches!
The benefit of non-verbal communication above verbal is that it can be used to deceive the opposition. For example during a match, a player might use hand signals to the player with the ball to indicate where they will move to create space so a pass is not intercepted by their defending player.
This is particularly useful during the centre pass.
Sometimes non-verbal is not enough and players need to shout at their players to alert them that they are free and can receive a pass.
It is definitely something that you should work to establish during your training sessions
Hope that helps!
depends once age of the players. verbal is much easier to coach for the younger players and is an important skill for them to have, but as they get older then non-verbal queues are important as you don`t wish to give away your intentions of where you want the ball to be passed.
in more ways than one
Split circle defence is the system the top three NSL teams have built their identity around in 2026. The Goal Keeper and Goal Defence divide the circle into zones, switch in synchrony, and make every passing option look risky. Here is how to coach it.
Most netball shooters know how to shoot. The difference at the top is who can shoot when it counts. A structured 10-minute pre-game mental routine is the most under-used performance tool in club netball - and it is the simplest to teach.
The best Goal Defences in the 2026 NSL season are intercepting more than ever. The reason is not raw athleticism. It is a deliberate shift from chasing the attacker to driving into the flight path of the ball. Here is how to coach it.
