It looks like the feeders operate in the outside channel as an outlet for the attacking side to use and pass into. Defenders may force the attacking side to play wide into the feeders by cutting out their passing option to the other attacker in the inside circle.
Essentially, the feeders role it to accompany the attack and offer a passing option out wide.
