Maybe say to them before the game that they might not play their preferred position. So to get them all to play they will need to swap positions.

I much prefer 10 players in my teams, no matter what the age group. How I work my rotations is 2 players in the team get a half game each week, with the remaining 8 players receiving 3 quarters. This is done on a rotation basis. In our Association we have 3 rounds with 5 games in each round. So this means that each round all of the 10 players will play one of the games for only a half, with the remaining games all playing 3 quarters.
This is the fairest way I have found to rotate a team with 10 players.
