Setup: Players form pairs with 1 ball in a cone box 10m x 12m. Each end of box serves as a goal line. Procedure: From their own goal line, Player 1 tries to pass ball over opposite goal line. To avoid Player 1 scoring, Player 2 (defender) tries to read direction and speed of pass and use width of stick to stop ball with forehand or reverse block. Player 2 then tries to pass ball back over Player 1's line from their own goal line. Lifted passes donât count. First player to score 4 goals wins. Progression/Variation: To encourage post-up: receiver/defender starts from red cone and steps up to block ball. To encourage passing on run: passer starts from red cone, dribbles forward and passes from own goal line. 2v2 using 12x18m box (LxW).
Questions: Can you disguise your pass? How can you pass harder/faster? How to stop the ball going under your stick? How to stop the ball on your reverse side? Taken from Activity 5 in this doc: http://www.fih.ch/files/Sport/Coaching/Passing%20Receiving%20Shooting%20-%20pages%2086-144.pdf
