DESCRIPTION

Scoring goals can be more successful if the strike is stronger so a hit would be more beneficial. This drill is to target players accuracy during a hit. The blue cones are set out as guidelines to the goal and the aim is to hit the backboard with a hit between the far goal post and the far orange cone. You must push the ball forward from your cone, you can`t walk it through or the goal doesn`t count. Must also be a hit not a slap or the goal wont count. Players keep alternating sides. Coaching points of a hit: Normal shake hands grip. left hand at top of the grip with the same v shape, knuckles pointing away from your chest when holding stick horizontally. Right hand is moved up to join left with both hands now at the top of the grip. Your left shoulder should be facing towards your intended target. To begin the ball starts in between your two feet and to gain some forward momentum it should then be GENTLY pushed level with your left foot as you step into the hit. SO when your strike the ball, it will be in front of your left foot. Your backswing should not be too high, we are not golfers, should be level with or slightly higher than your hip/horizontal. Remember the power from the hit comes from your core muscles so you must not break your wrists when hitting the ball. follow through, stick should be pointing in the direction of the target.
