This drill is used to teach the player what to do when a tackle is made and using a three stage breakdown to win back possession. Stage One: First player to the breakdown clears the ruck Stage Two:Second player to the breakdown secures/claims the ruck Stage Three: Third player to the breakdown recovers the ball and maintains possession. This is a good way to increase the speed of your players responses to breakdowns and other opportunities to reclaim possession. This also helps the player accelerate into the tackle instead of slowing down due to sub-conscious fear of collision.
