To successfully gain possession of the ball, it is important that all of your players know, understand and can implement the 3 key stages of defence.
What?s in the Session?
The session begins with a fun warm-up to get your players focused on the 3 key defending principles - limiting and denying space, forcing an error and applying pressure. The session develops to provide drills focused on each key stage of defence. ?Follow your player? develops your player's ability to dictate and limit the opposition's space. ?Cutting the Angle? focuses on actually going for the interception, providing coaching points to make this more successful. Whilst ?pressure box? looks at combining these stages, particularly focusing on applying pressure to every ball. The session concludes with a normal game of netball, with certain conditions placed upon the game to get your players demonstrating what they have learnt.
It is important that players utilise these stages, as well as use their body effectively to deny and limit their opposition space in order to gain possession.
