I am looking for pre game drill ideas. in half a hour we warm up with dynamic stretching. Ball handling/passing then 2 or 3 team drills. What drills do you recommend for adult top level drills?
Hi Michelle,
I have found a few drills I believe would be perfect for you.
1) Anywheres - this is always a good drill to get your players on their toes and their heart rate raised - you can progress the drill by getting two feeders and two workers, working at the same time, so the workers will need to cross each time. Communication will be key here
2) Reaction Drill - this will get your players really thinking and ready to react to any loose balls on court
3) Corner Drill - this is a good team drill to get everyone involved and get their timing correct
4) Interception Drill - I would advise finishing on this drill, as it gets your players really ready for the game. Also if your team are loud and really supportive of each other it can be intimidating for the opposition
These are only a few suggestions, alternatively check out our 'Warms Ups' category in our drills section. You may wish to do a group warm up e.g. running, stretching etc. and then split your team into units - shooters, centre court and defence, with each having a different drill. The whole team would then come together again for a group practice to conclude.
An example of this is below:
- Shooters - To practice their shooting and movement within the circle
> Shooter Rotation
- Centre court - Quick feet and hands, so the anywheres drill would be good, followed working on their angle and movement
> Bow-Tie
- Defence - Small foot base, without contact but competing for the ball
> Competing For The Ball
Hope this has given you some ideas.
in more ways than one
Split circle defence is the system the top three NSL teams have built their identity around in 2026. The Goal Keeper and Goal Defence divide the circle into zones, switch in synchrony, and make every passing option look risky. Here is how to coach it.
Most netball shooters know how to shoot. The difference at the top is who can shoot when it counts. A structured 10-minute pre-game mental routine is the most under-used performance tool in club netball - and it is the simplest to teach.
The best Goal Defences in the 2026 NSL season are intercepting more than ever. The reason is not raw athleticism. It is a deliberate shift from chasing the attacker to driving into the flight path of the ball. Here is how to coach it.
