Hi Carolina, The hand position for a dig and a bump is essentially the same — hands joined, thumbs parallel, and forearms forming a flat platform.

The difference lies in execution:

  • Dig: Used to control a hard-driven ball; arms slightly bent to absorb impact, more reactive.
  • Bump: Used for controlled passes like serve receive; arms straighter and platform firmer for accuracy.
