
Possession hockey
Split into 3 or 4 teams (this is a bit like piggy in the middle). One team have to try to gain possession or force ball out of area. When chasing team gain possession/force ball out team who lost possession are then in the middle against the rest of the teams. This game encourages possession hockey, good movement, communication and when youâre the chasing team Closing opponents down as a team. If lower ability make it no tackling just intercepting. Coaching tip â when you are the chasing team try to force the ball into a corner of the pitch as it is easier to force an error when opposition have no room to manoeuvre. Possession teams use shielding/roll outs and V drags to help keep ball away from defending team/piggy in the middle
