Hockey: Follow and Intercept - on the line

Great site. An absolute must for coaches who are willing to change...
Ignatius

DESCRIPTION

The attacking player tries to get the ball from one line to the other.

The defending player should watch patiently and steal the ball when it becomes free and then begins to attack the opposite line.

The attacking player then becomes the defender.

COACHING POINTS

Foot work and mobility is very important. Focus on good defensive body position and movement (low centre of gravity, knees bent, following the player and focusing on the ball!)
