Hockey: Mobility Test

DESCRIPTION

Players must slalom through the cones as many times as possible in 30 seconds.

COACHING POINTS

- Utilise a high elbow to carry the ball in the playing position
- Players should keep their heads up
- Make sure to move the body through the cones and not just the ball

Goal scoring test | Skill Circuit

Goal scoring test:

In this test the player starts by rolling the ball into the 'D' to the forehand side and hits the ball at goal.
The next ball is pushed to the left and hit with the reverse stick side only, then the next ball to the right, etc.

Pushing test | Skill Circuit

Pushing test:

In this test the player has to aim the ball at the target, either dragging, slapping or pushing the ball.

Hitting test | Skill Circuit

Hitting test:

The player is required to hit the ball across the width of the pitch at the target.

There are two options on how to hit:

  1. either put the ball on the side line and hit a static ball
  2. move the ball off the spot and hit a rolling ball.

(If the player chooses the second option, the ball has to be hit in front of the two metre line).

Pull Back | Skill Circuit

Pull Back:

Player runs to the left of the cone and pulls the ball back. He/she then runs to the next cone etc. On completion of the circuit, give the ball to the next player.
3 - 4 players per group, if space is limited and there are more then 4 players per group, use 2 balls.
