We use a count gym that does not have lines for a volleyball court. We have been told we cannot use any tape. Any suggestions? All I can find online is floor tape.

Would they allow you to use some sort of easy peel tape that you could remove after training - like electrical tape?
If not you could try using cones and/or string to mark out your court?

Thanks for the suggestion. I hadn't thought about cones. How would you use string? Tie it to the cones somehow? Not sure about electrical tape. They were pretty adamant about the no tape thing. Guess others haven't been careful to use the right type. Would refs allow cones and string as boundary lines in a game?

No problem, I'm afraid I'm not sure if an umpire would allow this and you would probably be best to contact them prior to any game to avoid having it called off.
As for the string you could try tying it to the base of the cones to avoid it posing a trip hazard or instead weigh it down beneath a heavy object (such as the cones).

I use Throw down line and corner set. About £20 for a pack of 24. Marvellous, and perfect for kids with small sided games.

What about Chalk; easily wiped off at the end. Might have to redo during a match/training

Our gym floor is a water-based varnish and they do not allow us to use any floor safe tape either. In place of that, we use a TEMPRA paint (yes, like they use in kindergarten) and paint all of our lines for our side practice courts. We are lucky in that we have painters that do it from our physical plant department because we are a college, but I would think that anyone could either tape the outside of the 2" lines or use a 2" roller depending on how perfect you wanted it to be.
