Digging - up and over continuous rally

Players stand in two lines on either side of the net. The first player throws the ball up in the air to themselves and digs the ball over the net to the player on the other side. Following the ball at all times the other player must position themselves in such a way that they are able to first-time dig the ball over the other side of the net. After players have made their pass they should then run to the left, under the net, to rejoin the back of the queue on the other side.

Passing/Throwing Styles

Every pair or every 4 have a ball. Pass the ball across the net with partner catching. Do the same with outstretched arms or underhand right foot forward.NOTE: If there are an odd number of players, use a triangle.

Divide the court into 3 equal areas with a line across the length of the court. (6m x 9m) 8 player per small courtStart the game with an underarm serve, and the opposition has to catch the ball and throw it back first time with one of the typical volleyball throws. The player who drops, throws the ball out side the court or in to the net has to leave the court. If the team catches the ball 3 times in a row, one of the players on the side can join back in. A point is scored when the opposition has no players left.

ORGANISATION:Divide the volleyball court into 3 parts with 8 players per area and 2 teams of 4.TASK:Start the game/rally with an underhand serve where the ball hits the ground. If too close to the net, take 2 steps back. Pass the ball over the net in one go with:- 2 outsrectched arms- 1 overhand- 1 underhandFor each team of 4, the rules are:If you throw the ball across the net, everyone rotates clockwise. If a player drops the ball/throws the ball out of play or into the net, they leave the court. When the ball is caught in the next rally three times in a row the player returns. When the court is empty the other team gets a point.

Self Pass - Dig and Volley rally

To start the exercise, one player volleys the ball to their partner who digs the ball up to themselves then volleys the ball back. The other player then repeats this pattern.

1 Techniques

Setting up and passing forward

Two players facing each other with one ball between them. Player one overhand passes the ball high above his/her head before forward passing the ball to their partner. Player 2 then receives the ball by setting the ball high above his/her head using a overhand pass before returning the ball to player 1.

Divide the court into 3 equal areas with a line across the length of the court. For every team, after the ball is thrown the team rotates clockwise one turn. Every time the ball is dropped the player that drops the ball has to leave the field. First team to lose all players loses the point.

2 or 4 in group, standing sideways across the court. Throw the ball over the net so the other person can catch the ball. Try with 2 hands under arm, over ahead and with one foot in front of the other (like serving under arm).Try 1 hand over head, left foot forward for right handed playersleft foot forward for left handed players. Try with straight arm over head.

Touch the Floor and Underhand Pass

Players have to touch the floor with both hands before underhand passing the ball to their partner.

4 Passing Drills

Two Player Set

Players work in pairs setting the ball to one another first time. This can be done with players facing each other without a net or with one player on each side of the net. Player 1 sets the ball across to player 2 who sets the ball back again. Ensure passes have enough height on them to allow the rally to continue smoothly.

Serve VST:SERVING - Volleyball...

The purpose of the serve is not just to put the ball in play but to try and score a point or to stop/change the attacking strategy of the opposition. Split stance with left foot pointing in the direction of the target. Right foot at 45 degree angle pointing to the outside. Weight on back foot. Ball in left hand on the top of the fingers at hip height in the middle of the body. Right hand relaxed in front of shoulder hitting. Eyes focus on target area.

Rhythm hitting; the coach feeds the setter to set a hitter for their partner. After they have hit the ball they run around an object near the baseline of the court and then repeat.

The pair start from the sideline. On the coach's signal player 1 passes the ball forward using a overhand pass so the ball bounces on the other side of court. Simultaneously, he/she must run forward and set the ball back to player 2 after one bounce. Player 2 then overhand passes the ball forward and does the same
