Amoeba serve game 9 Conditione...

The drill starts with a player from each side serving a ball. They then go and sit down where their serve landed - assuming it went in (if not they join the back of the line and will have to serve again in a minute).<br /><br /> The rest of the players then start serving, trying to serve to their teammate on the other side of the net. If successful and their team-mate catches the ball, they go join them.<br /><br /> The drill ends when one team has all of their players reach the other side.

Grassroot serving 3 Grass root...

2 players, 1 ball. The player serving has to hit the ball over the net so that the other player can catch the ball. If they are successful 3 times in a row the player can take a step back and move closer to the back line. Once players reach the back line they can swap roles.

Pass Short And Long 10 Setting...

Players work in threes with one player in the middle. A player from the outside sets to the middle player before receiving the ball back. The middle player now turns 180 degrees and the player with the ball passes to the players at the other side of the court. Players on the outside set the ball once to the middle and then to the other side.

Cross court serving 4 Passing ...

1) In pairs the players stand diagonally across from each other on either side of the net. 2) Player 1 then serves crosscourt at the same time as player 2 (the balls should cross in the air). 3) Each player catches the ball and repeats step 2.

Target serving 7 Serve Drills ...

Players have a ball each and stand behind the back line.One at a time players must underarm serve the ball over the net and try to get their ball to land inside the target area, which is marked by cones.After serving the ball players must follow their serve, collect their ball and run around the court to the back of the line.

Underhand Serving 4 2 Warm Up ...

Stage four of the serving progressions; throw the ball to go over the net to your partner with no bounce, stepping forwards with the opposite leg to the hand that you roll with (using body weight) and releasing the ball slightly higher.

Set Backwards Twice 10 Setting...

Players stand in pairs on each side of the court. The player at the front sets the ball backwards to their teammate and makes a spin so that they are now facing their teammate, who then sets the ball back to the player facing them. This player now sets the ball backwards across the court to the other pair, who do the same thing.

Set-bounce-set 10 Setting Dril...

Each player has a ball and should stand inside a 2m-diameter circle drawn with chalk. The player throws the ball high above his/her head - it should be overhand passed up so it bounces inside the circle. The player should allow the ball to bounce, get into position to use the overhand pass again to push the ball back into the air. Alternate passing and bouncing.

Players start by lying on their back on the baseline. When the coach whistles, they quickly get up and overhand pass the ball to themselves while moving forwards and backwards from the net.

Numbers 1 and 2 serve and aim at the targets. The other players must act as ball boys and keep up the supply of balls to the servers.

Zone 6 10 Setting Drills - Vol...

The ball is served to player 1, who is standing in zone 6. Player 1 then digs up the ball (a) to player 2 (standing close to the net in zone 2). Player 3 then throws the ball (b) from zone 4 to player 1 who has to either bump or set the ball (c) depending on the way the ball is fed to them. Player 2 then feeds the ball (d) to player 1, who again either has to bump or set the ball (e). After a set number of repetitions of the previous steps, player 1 must set the ball (f) from Zone 6 to Zone 4 for a spike (g).

This drill can be performed in pairs, or players can perform it individually against a wall. Players set the ball either to their partner or against the wall, and alternates between setting while standing on their feet, and setting with a jump.

A fun and simple way to introduce the serve. Using the underhand serve players pass the ball over the net one another. There should be no loose balls here, players should focus on accuracy as they aim to get the ball up and over. Once again players should be stepping forwards with the opposite leg to the hand that you serve with.

Three players make a triangle while another joins one of the corners with a ball. The player passes the ball to another corner of the triangle before following the pass and standing behind the receiver, who continues the drill.

Half the group at one end and the other half at the other end. Taking it in turns players serve the ball and use their serving momentum to follow the ball, run and collect your ball. Repeat from the other end.

Volley the ball to your partner who digs the ball to themselves then volleys the ball back to you, whilst they are doing that you do a dive, roll or something else then they do the same as you dig and volley. Do this for a set time or number of good contacts.

The purpose of the serve is not just to put the ball in play but to try and score a point or to stop/change the attacking strategy of the opposition. Split stance with left foot pointing in the direction of the target. Right foot at 45 degree angle pointing to the outside. Weight on back foot. Ball in left hand on the top of the fingers at hip height in the middle of the body. Right hand relaxed in front of shoulder hitting. Eyes focus on target area.
