Use an area half the length/width of the court with 2 attackers, 2 defenders and 2 trailing players.

The attackers are working to get the ball to travel from one end to the other using their passes and the defenders are trying to intercept.

Trailers need to stay behind the ball and can receive and pass from an attacker if the other attacker isn't free.

If the ball is intercepted then the defenders become the new attackers.

Pairs should keep score.

Trailing players stay behind the ball as options for the attackers
Attackers can take on defence and get free or re-offer when back pass to a trailer is used
Players can pass back to a trailer to help them get free

Free attackers balancing space and providing options
Decision making by ball carrier to pass forward or back
- Recognise which player is free
If the ball is passed backwards there needs to be movement/options with attackers re-offering for the ball
Ball carrier should pass and scan
- See where teammates are
- Options: Follow pass or run wide and deep to get the next phase

Player 1 turns their back to players 2 and 3 and receives the ball from X.

Players 2 and 3 both make strong sideways movements, but only 1 of them calls for the ball. Player 1 passes to this player.

Ball is passed round the square with players timing their move so that they run onto the ball.

In this practice 2 players run to make a lead to receive the ball.
Feeder throws to one of the players.
The player that did not receive the ball makes another lead run to receive the ball.

On receiving the ball from the feeder player 1 turns.

Players 2 and 3 should both make strong sideways movements in opposite directions, the defender can go either way.

Player 1 must try and pass to the unmarked player as quickly as possible.

Footwork

The WA and GA will start in a staggered position, with one player (WA in this example) on the line and the other (GA) positioned off the line
Both the WA and GA will offer for the centre pass
WA will receives the ball from the C
GA recognises that they did not receive first ball and will clear out to get down court into the circle
Once the C has passed the ball to the WA they will then drive deep down court to receive the second phase ball from back from the WA
The GS will hold their space until the C has received the ball and is ready to pass in - they will then drive onto the ball, driving towards the edge of the circle to leave space for the GA
The GA should be able to receive the ball from the GS under the post
