Start by teaching the basic grip and stance while holding a hockey stick, Then progress to allow the players to walk around getting a feel for the hockey stick and the control they have over the ball. After a few minutes get the players moving around with their speed and direction depenedant on a traffic light system. Green = Run/Jog Amber = walk Red = Stop (other colours such as blue, pink yellow can be added to represent changing direction, performing a skill etc as the player progress)
