DESCRIPTION

Player overhand passes the ball to a setter and digs their return spike. Then, a setter sets the ball for a spike.

COACHING POINTS

Player must focus on passing accurately so that the setter can set the ball easily. Attacker needs to quickly change their role from from receiver to attacker.

Spike Variety | 6 Advanced Drills

Spike Variety:

Player 1 (the spiker) passes the ball to player 2 (the setter) who sets it up for the spiker to attack with the aim of landing the ball on one of the target mats placed in various positions on the court.

Between Antennas:

Spiker aims to spike the ball in between the lines in zone 2.

Dig 3 Balls | 4 Passing Drills

Dig 3 Balls:

Receiver faces three players who one after another spikes the ball for it to be digged. Change roles after the player has faced 3 spikes from each player.

From Laying To Spiking | 6 Advanced Drills

From Laying To Spiking:

The player at the back of the court passes the ball to a setter and lies down. The setter then overhand passes the ball high before setting the ball up for the other player, who has now returned to his feet, to approach and spike the ball.
