Using a marker, number cones 1 to 9. The aim of the game is to collect 3 cones that add up to 15. When the whistle is blown the first player from both teams sprints to pick up a cone, then they tag the next player in their team who collects the second, and repeat again for player 3. If neither team wins after 3 cones have been collected it is a draw.
This is a great drill for younger players (9 and upwards). It stimulates both the mind and body, whilst having the element of team work and tactics in there too. Encourage players to think about how they can not only win for their own team, but how they can prevent the other team from winning too.

Tight markers win when attackers run in straight lines. Teach your players to dodge, change pace and time their drive so they get free when the ball is ready.
When everyone chases the ball, nobody is free. Teach your team to spread out, offer two options and clear space so the ball moves cleanly down court.
A shooter who can hold a strong position under the post is worth more than one who runs all over the circle. Here is how to coach body shape, a legal hold and a well-timed release, and how feeders make the most of it.
