Drill Description: An easy way to analyse all studentâs ability is to pair them up and get them to stand 5 metres away from each other. To keep this drill organised have one person from each pair to stand on the side line and the other opposite them 5 metres away. This will avoid any students being hit and for the teacher to walk around and analyse ability and providing individual feedback. Once students have done these skills over and over and the teacher is happy that everyone is capable, can add in some competition to engage and keep focus over basic skills. âFirst pair to complete 20 passesâ. Negatives with competition can be the students lack in proper technique because trying to do the action quickly. This is okay if the teacher has observed technique before.
KEY TEACHING POINTS: 3 different styles of passing:Chest pass â chest to chest passing, fingers spread, elbows tucked in, move weight forward to pass the ball. Bounce pass â bouncing the ball at hip height, fingers spread, elbows low. Lob pass â ball should be held high to be thrown high, using spread fingers to guide the ball.

Tight markers win when attackers run in straight lines. Teach your players to dodge, change pace and time their drive so they get free when the ball is ready.
When everyone chases the ball, nobody is free. Teach your team to spread out, offer two options and clear space so the ball moves cleanly down court.
