Netball: Reactions

How fast are your reactions? Quick reactions can win matches so use this plan to get your players bursting out the blocks - ahead of their opposition

Players work in pairs (1 feeder and 1 worker).

1. The worker turns her back on the feeder.
2. When the worker turns around (on the feeder's command) the Feeder throws the ball close to the worker for her to react and catch or collect the ball after one bounce.
3. After catching the ball the worker returns the ball to the worker.

Drill continues in this way.

4 Players, 2 balls.
Blue player 1 without a ball receives a ball from White player 3,and passes it on to White player 1 (who did not start with a ball), receives from white 2 and gives to white 3 etc.

The feeder passes the ball to the working player (blue 1).

The passes should be varied (short, wide and high).

Blue 1 must move to the ball as early as possible and pass it back to the feeder before returning to their starting postion - ready to go again!

Pass the ball quickly from one hand to the other, at about shoulder height.
Try both static and moving.

Vary level at which you pass the ball - from ankle height to full stretch above your head.
